Legacy, Harmonica and a Flower (1st stage) – Nir Vidan

While working on this piece, we researchedpioneering dance imagerycreated by Naomi Polanifor young Israel’s military bands and for “HaTarnegolim” during the state’s first two decades, using EWMN (Eshkol-Wachman movement notation). We accompanied the physical learning process with an investigation of the ideas and the Zeitgeistwhich were encoded into the movement and music and written into the body. In the summer of 2014, while alarms and waves of hatred washed over the country, we adopted into our body this nostalgia of pioneers, and examined whether it inspires criticism or longing.
